Field notes
- 01 · Acquire & Equip Field Binoculars: Binoculars spawn in military observation towers, outpost lookout nests, or can be bartered directly from trader Anatoly or Volodymyr. Drag them into a hotkey quick slot (e.g. slot [4]) or your secondary active tool slot.
- 02 · Camera Panning & Viewport Extension: With binoculars selected in your hands, hold the Right Mouse Button (Aim/Look) and move your cursor toward the edge of your screen. This disengages the centered camera lock, panning your visual cone up to 45 meters in any direction.
- 03 · Bypassing Sound Ripples & Aggro Radii: High-threat wasteland predators (such as Tongue Monsters and Hellhounds) trigger aggro within a 25-meter radius, while unsuppressed gunfire radiates a 200m sound cone. Long-range scouting lets you mark enemy patrol vectors well outside their aggro zone.
- 04 · Foliage Penetration & Environmental Optics: Binoculars pierce light foliage, brush, and outer Mist anomaly fringes that normally obscure top-down vision. Note that solid brick walls, reinforced bunker blast doors, and dense radioactive anomaly cores still block optical line-of-sight.
- 05 · Optical Scopes vs Binoculars Comparison: While rifle scopes (such as the PSO-1 or PU 3.5x) allow precision aiming, they rapidly drain stamina while holding Aim-Down-Sights (ADS) and suffer weapon sway. Binoculars consume zero character stamina and provide a stable, wide 60-degree pan arc.

Questions players ask
Where do you find or buy binoculars in Scavland?
Binoculars can be bartered from trader Anatoly or arms dealer Volodymyr in the Zalesye settlement, or looted from observation towers and lookout nests across outer military perimeter zones.
How do you use binoculars in Scavland?
Place the binoculars in a hotkey slot (such as [4]), press the key to hold them, and hold [Right Mouse Button]. Drag your cursor toward the screen edges to pan your camera viewport up to 45 meters in that direction.
Can binoculars see enemies inside buildings or underground bunkers?
No. Binoculars require an unobstructed physical line-of-sight. They cannot see through bunker blast doors, solid brick walls, or underground facility bulkheads.
Do binoculars consume battery power or durability?
No. Unlike the electronic Anomaly Scanner or Night Vision Goggles, optical binoculars possess infinite durability and require no battery cells or cleaning oil.
Why does my camera snap back when using binoculars?
Releasing the Right Mouse Button immediately resets the camera perspective to center on your player character. Keep Right-Click held down continuously while surveying the area.
