Field notes
- 01 · Enabling the Mode: Explorer Mode can be selected to lower the severe death penalties associated with traditional corpse runs, letting you focus on exploring Zalesye.
- 02 · Campfire Regeneration: Resting at active campfires across the wasteland now provides a slow but continuous health regeneration aura. This significantly reduces early reliance on scarce bandages and medical splints.
- 03 · Expanded Logistics: Base stash capacity and maximum character stamina are doubled (2x). You can now stockpile more high-tier [weapons](/weapons/) and industrial trade goods for [faction](/factions/) merchants.
- 04 · Hydration Mechanics: The patch introduces new medical blueprints specifically for managing the severe dehydration debuff. Always boil water before consuming to prevent rad poisoning.

Questions players ask
Does Explorer Mode change combat difficulty?
Yes, in part: the Day One Patch describes Explorer as having "more forgiving combat" alongside faster Job rewards, keeping your equipment on death and autosave. It does not make every encounter trivial — mutants and hostile survivors remain lethal.
Can I heal completely using campfires?
Yes, resting at a campfire restores base health over time, but it does not cure radiation poisoning or severe bleeding without proper medical items.
Is this mode permanent for my save?
Explorer Mode can be selected to tailor the difficulty curve of your survival experience, easing the steep learning curve for new scavengers.
