Field notes
- 01 · Understand Distributed Damage Mechanics: In Update 0.7.0, incoming ballistic and mutant damage is distributed across each equipped gear piece rather than hitting a single total health pool. Wearing headgear, chest armor, and tactical pants simultaneously disperses impact force across multiple items.
- 02 · Master Armor Durability Tiers (3 to 6 Hits): Armor durability operates on discrete hit absorption thresholds established in Update 0.6.0: Tattered armor withstands 3 hits, Scavenger armor withstands 4 hits, Medium armor withstands 5 hits, and Heavy armor withstands 6 hits before failing.
- 03 · Universal Armor Repair Kits (Update 0.7.0): Prior updates prevented repairing heavily damaged items, but Update 0.7.0 permits Gun and Armor Repair Kits to be used regardless of how damaged your equipment is. Kits appear in the world with distinct rarities: Tattered/Scrap (Rare), Scavenger/Basic (Very Rare), and Advanced/Expert/Medium/Heavy (Ultra Rare).
- 04 · Crafting Medium Armor at Equipment Bench: Under Update 0.6.0, Medium Armor is crafted directly at the Equipment Bench (moved from the Medical Bench). Tattered and Scavenger armor repair kits are crafted using collected materials.
- 05 · Primary Weapon - Mikhail 74U: Pair your protective armor with an economical Mikhail 74U chambered in 5.45x39mm or a close-range 12-gauge shotgun. Mikhail 74U magazines and ammunition are plentiful on fallen bandits and budget vendor Volodymyr at Crossroads.
- 06 · Field Medical Hotbar Setup: Maintain quick-access survival triage consisting of Clean Bandages, Green Rags (now included in the beginner starter kit in Update 0.7.0), and clean drinking water to manage bleeding before armor durability degrades.

Questions players ask
How does armor reduce damage in Scavland Update 0.7.0?
Under Update 0.7.0, incoming damage is distributed across the various pieces of gear you wear (headwear, body armor, pants) rather than impacting a single unified health pool. Equipping multiple protective layers spreads out incoming damage across several durability pools.
How many hits can each armor tier absorb before breaking?
Per the Update 0.6.0 rebalance, armor hit points are strictly tiered: Tattered armor absorbs 3 hits, Scavenger armor absorbs 4 hits, Medium armor absorbs 5 hits, and Heavy armor absorbs 6 hits before durability is fully exhausted.
Can you repair completely broken armor in Update 0.7.0?
Yes. In Update 0.7.0, Gun and Armor Repair Kits can now be used regardless of how damaged your equipment is, removing the earlier durability restriction.
Where do you craft Medium Armor?
In Update 0.6.0, Medium Armor crafting was moved to the Equipment Bench instead of the Medical Bench.
What is the best budget firearm to pair with early armor?
The Mikhail 74U in 5.45x39mm and 12-gauge shotguns provide the best balance of low repair cost, readily scavenged ammunition, and stopping power against mutant ambushes.
